Solid Finish with Impressive Division Standing Charles Gimarc, age 71 from Colorado Springs, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in a time of 5:15:54. Covering 13.36 miles, he achieved an overall pace of 23:38 minutes per mile. Notably, he secured 4th place in the competitive O70-74 age division, highlighting his endurance and skill on the course. Starting strong, Charles improved as he tackled elevations from 6,303 feet to the pinnacle at 14,061 feet. From an initial placement of 7th in his division at the start, Charles moved to 4th by the 3.2-mile mark at Top of W's. Noteworthy splits include a 14:54 pace between the 7.91 to 8.77-mile segments that boosted his ranking. Despite challenges as the race ascended beyond the treeline, Charles maintained his determination. His consistency is reflected in split times, particularly as he neared the finish. To further enhance performance, focusing on mid-race splits could offer potential gains in future events.
