Notable Improvement in Pace and Positioning Cassie Melvin completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon with an impressive time of 4:21:47, showing a marked improvement from her 2024 performance. She managed a pace of 19:35 min/mile over the 13.36-mile trek, climbing from 6,303 feet to 14,061 feet. Her overall placement was 564th out of 2,049 participants, while she took the 141st spot among the women and 28th in her age division. Cassie's strategic pacing was evident, improving her split times in key segments. Notable was her performance between Hydro Street and Barr Camp, with her pace tightening significantly to as quick as 12:43 min/mile at Barr Camp. Despite the increasing elevation and difficulty, she enhanced her standings remarkably compared to last year, moving from 679th to 564th overall and from 169th to 141st in her gender category. Focus may be placed on maintaining the stronger paces seen in mid-segments across the final portions.
