Strong Finish After Mid-Race Surge Relay's team started the marathon at a consistent pace, logging the first few miles at just under 10 minutes per mile. Initial splits hovered around an average pace of 9:40 min/mile, with a slight slow down to 10:00 min/mile by mile 4. However, from mile 8 onward, the team showed impressive improvement, surging with splits of 8:16 min/mile. Their fastest split came in at mile 14 with a time of 7:25 min/mile, showcasing their ability to pick up the pace effectively in the second segment of the race. Overall, the team completed the marathon in 4:10:01, with an average pace of 9:32 min/mile. Maintaining composure throughout, they managed to advance to finish 13th overall in a field of 51. Attention to pacing sharpness in the later miles could help ensure a maintaining of the early gains and enhance end-to-end consistency during future events.
