Steady Acceleration Sparks Successful 5K Finish Hey there! Sitting right here in Madison, I had the pleasure of watching Michael Griffis soar through the 2025 Run Madtown 5K. Starting with a steady 7:19 min/mile pace, Michael demonstrated remarkable acceleration in each subsequent split. By mile two, he had quickened to a 6:55 min/mile pace, and then impressively clocked a 6:24 min/mile pace in the final mile, bringing his overall pace to 6:49 min/mile. Not a bad way to close out the race, reaching a final elapsed time of 21:13! Michael placed in the top tier in his age division (M30-34), securing 4th place out of the field of 799 participants. His performance highlights consistent pace improvement throughout the race. Transitioning from 10K to 5K, with a previous pace of 6:53 min/mile, the improvement is clear. Keep pushing that tempo forward, and perhaps explore even more aggressive pacing to maintain momentum and raise the ranks further!
