Consistent Splits Lead to Masters Victory Vaughn Gibbs delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon. He completed the 13.1-mile race in 1:17:39, averaging a pace of 5:55 min/mile. Vaughn impressively maintained a steady pace throughout the race, with splits mostly under 6 minutes per mile. His strongest section was from miles 1 to 3, where each mile was completed in less than 5:55, with his fastest mile clocking in at 5:46. Vaughn consistently improved his position, moving up from 35th at the 1-mile mark to 16th by the race's conclusion. He achieved first place in the M Masters division. While his initial miles showed a slight speed edge, maintaining a sub-6-minute pace towards the end showcases an excellent endurance foundation. Vaughn's methodical approach and strategic pacing within each section were commendable. Small refinements in pacing around the 8 to 12-mile marks could further enhance his performance. Keep building on this foundation for future races!
