Steady Improvement with Speed Gains Ali Jalal, representing the UTHealth Houston team, demonstrated consistent improvement throughout the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon. Over the 13.1-mile course, Ali progressively increased his pace, showcasing significant speed gains in later splits. His early splits ranged around 11:34 min/mile at the outset but improved to a notable 8:08 min/mile in the final mile. This strategic pacing played a key role in his overall performance, helping him secure a time of 2:13:03, with an average pace of 10:09 min/mile. Ali steadily advanced through the ranks, improving his positions over time. Starting from the 2973rd overall position, he climbed steadily, eventually finishing 2174th out of 4907 participants. Notably, he moved up in his Male 20-24 age division from 179th place at the beginning to 141st by the conclusion of the race. Continuing to work on his pacing strategy could further enhance his future performances. Excellent effort for this event!
