Consistent Effort with Gradual Pacing Adjustment Johannes Azucena completed the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon with a finish time of 3:13:18. Throughout the race, he maintained an overall pace of 14:45 min/mile. Johannes's pacing started at an impressive 11:43 min/mile in the first mile, showing potential for speed, but adjusted to 16:00 min/mile by mile 12. Despite the pace change, he consistently increased his distance without fluctuating his overall standing significantly. His positioning slightly shifted, starting from 3047th at mile 1 and concluding at 3900th overall. Within his division (M40-44), he placed 249th out of an undisclosed total, showing consistency in his group. A strategy to consider in future races could involve maintaining the initial pace longer, or introducing interval training to sustain speed throughout.
