Steady Performance with a Slight Late-Pace Adjustment Carmen Martinez maintained a consistent pace throughout the first half of the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon with noticeable improvement. Her split times from miles 1 to 7 showed an impressive downward trend, consistently in the 9:04 to 9:17 min/mile range. Most notably, she advanced from 61st to 56th place in her division by mile 4. In the latter half, her pace adjusted slightly, averaging around 9:34 to 10:17 min/mile. The final elapsed time was 2:04:57, achieving an average pace of 9:32 min/mile. Although placing 64th in the F40-44 division, Carmen demonstrated a steadfast effort, finishing strongly despite the late-race pace deceleration. For future races, focusing on maintaining early split consistencies throughout could improve overall timing. Keep this data in mind during training sessions to enhance race-day performance.
