Consistent Performance with Notable Finishes Matthew Mayzer participated in the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon & 10K on behalf of the UTHealth Houston team. In his 10K run, Matthew showcased a consistent performance with minor variances in his pace over the course. He began with a steady pace of 12:16 min/mile for the first mile, which was his quickest split. Notably, by the sixth mile, he completed it with his second-best pace of 13:53 min/mile, showing great potential for improvement as the race progressed. Throughout the 10K, Matthew maintained an overall average pace of 14:07 min/mile, completing in 1:27:34. Despite facing a slight decrease in speed around the second mile with a split of 15:13 min/mile, he managed to gradually recover by the final mile. Targeting a steadier pace in the earlier miles could be beneficial for races ahead. Finish strong by analyzing these frequent pace fluctuations to better distribute his efforts across the race.
