Consistent Pace with Strong Finish Azael Fuentes demonstrated impressive consistency throughout the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon. Starting with a 10:32 min/mile pace, he exhibited disciplined pacing strategies. Notably, after a slower second mile at 13:52 min/mile, he smoothly transitioned to quicker paces, with a significant improvement by mile 4, achieving a 9:51 min/mile split. His split times consistently improved, culminating in an outstanding final mile pace of 8:56 min/mile, showcasing his ability to maintain energy for a strong finish. Fuentes completed the half marathon in 2:15:56, averaging a 10:22 min/mile pace. He moved up several positions during the race, improving from 2273rd overall early on to 2321st by the end, which granted him 305th in the M25-29 division. His progressive improvement and steady pace should be beneficial for future races. Continuing to work on preventing early race slowdowns could further enhance his performance.
