Consistent Improvement and Strong Finish Nan Zhang achieved a time of 1:05:54 in the 10K at the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon & 10K. Her average pace was 10:37 min/mile, placing her 636th overall and 278th among female runners out of 2010 total participants. Impressively, Nan's performance improved consistently with each mile. Starting with a pace of 12:08 min/mile in the first mile, she progressively accelerated to her fastest split in the last mile, clocking in at 9:31 min/mile. Her rank improved steadily throughout, moving from 1001st overall initially to 633rd by the final mile. Notably, Nan's placement in her division, F40-44, was commendable as well, finishing 35th from 70th in the first mile. An area of focus could be to start closer to her mid-race pacing, which would provide additional room to capitalize on her strong acceleration.
