Consistent Performance with a Strong Finish Jan Matulka, representing Frontrunners Houston, delivered a solid performance at the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon. Completing the 13.1-mile course with a final time of 1:40:04, Jan's average pace was 7:38 min/mile. Notably, Jan demonstrated significant consistency and endurance as indicated by a strong push in the latter half of the race, improving from a 7:47 min/mile pace at the beginning to a notably faster 7:24 min/mile in the final split. The progression throughout the race shows a well-managed pace with effective strategy, especially in the last few miles. Starting at a 421st place overall, Jan improved to secure the 387th position by the finish. Within the M25-29 division, he advanced from 63rd to 62nd place. Focusing even further on strategic pacing, especially maintaining even splits or negative splits throughout the race, could be beneficial for better placement in future races.
