Smooth Finish with Speed Gains Kevin Fruge completed the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon with a final time of 2:06:19, maintaining an overall pace of 9:38 min/mile over 13.1 miles. Notably, there was a visible improvement in pace during the last two miles, clocking in at 8:44 and 8:34 min/mile respectively. This strong finish helped Kevin secure an overall placement of 1814th out of 4907 participants, placing 217th in the M35-39 division. The data reveals a strategic increase in speed during the latter half. After a slower third mile at 10:17 min/mile, Kevin managed to pick up the pace, finishing the final mile significantly faster. Compared to his previous race, where he completed the half marathon in 1:56:46 with an 8:54 min/mile pace, theres potential to bridge the gap by working on mid-race consistency. Small adjustments in pacing strategy could lead to faster overall times in future races.
