Consistent Splits and a Strong Finish Mark Darnell showcased remarkable consistency during the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon & 10K. He maintained a steady pace throughout the race, finishing with an impressive overall elapsed pace of 12:00 min/mile. His splits hovered closely around this target, particularly excelling in the last mile with a split pace of 11:44 min/mile. Marks strategic pacing resulted in a solid finish of 1:14:28. This performance placed him 5th in his division, M65-69, demonstrating competitive strength within his age group. Despite varying overall and gender placements, his steadfast approach was evident throughout the race. It's notable that Mark improved his placement during the course, moving up from 994 to 960 overall. For future races, building on this consistency and aiming to sustain the quicker pace from his final mile earlier in the race could prove beneficial. Participating as a member of the Katy Area Running Club added to his commendable performance.
