Consistent Pace Yields Improved Performance Andrew Kim, from Saint Louis, completed the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon with an elapsed time of 1:22:12, achieving an average pace of 6:16 min/mile. He finished 43rd overall, 40th in the male category, and 8th in the M20-24 division from a pool of 4907 participants. Andrew demonstrated consistent pacing, with mile splits mainly around the 6:13 to 6:21 min/mile range. Notably, Andrew maintained or improved his position throughout the race, indicating strong race management. Compared to the previous year, Andrew shaved 53 seconds off his race time and improved his pace from 6:20 to 6:16 min/mile. Despite fewer overall improvements in division placement, his progress in time and pace reflects dedicated training. Continuing to refine splits and sustain speed in later miles may further enhance his performance. Aligning his pacing strategy with the first half of his recent race could unlock additional time gains.
