Steady Improvement from Start to Finish Matt Hanes delivered a consistent performance at the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon. He completed the race in 1:57:30, maintaining an average pace of 8:58 min/mile. Starting with a 9:55 min/mile pace, he progressively increased his speed, hitting his fastest split at mile 4 with an impressive 8:03 min/mile. He notably improved his placement throughout the race, moving up from 1841st to 1255th overall by the finish line, and ended up 51st in the M50-54 division, improving significantly from the previous years placement. Haness ability to maintain a strong and steady pace is commendable. To enhance performance, maintaining a more consistent pace in the later miles, particularly between miles 7 and 8 where he saw a slight slowdown, could be beneficial. Overall, Matts performance shows a solid improvement, and his strategic planning between splits is a strength he can build upon in future races.
