Consistent Early Splits with Late Challenges David Doan exhibited a steady start during the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon, maintaining an average pace of 10:42 min/mile from miles 1 to 2. Notably, mile 1 had a split of 10:44, whereas mile 2 slightly improved to 10:39. Positioning in age division M20-24 saw minor fluctuations without significant drops during initial miles, reaching mile 5 with a position of 179. Mid-race, mile 6 held a split time of 10:48, indicating consistency. However, from mile 11, an increase in elapsed pace to 13:29 signaled fatigue. The final stretch from mile 12 to 13 slowed considerably, with split paces increasing to 21:46 and 20:13, respectively. Concluding with an overall time of 2:49:35, David finished with an average pace of 12:56 min/mile, ranking 204th in his age division. Focusing on pacing strategies could enhance performance in future races.
