Consistent Progress with Key Opportunities Identified Yesenia Hernandez from Houston completed the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon & 10K with an overall time of 2:06:33, securing 24th place overall and 11th among women. Her overall pace was 20:24 min/mile across the 6.2-mile distance. Notably, Yesenia started strong with an initial mile pace of 16:25 min/mile and maintained competitive paces for the next two miles at 17:07 min/mile and 16:56 min/mile, respectively. However, splits in the latter part saw an increase in time, with paces exceeding 20 minutes per mile. Analyzing these splits, it's evident that fatigue may have impacted the latter stages of the race. The fourth-mile split, in particular, showed a notable slowdown with a 26:44 pace. This area can be a target for focused endurance training to improve stamina and maintain a consistent pace across the race. Encouragingly, compared to her previous experience in 2024, there's evidence of valuable racing experience, though pacing can be optimized further.
