Consistent Leader with Room to Refine Pacing Margarita Ybarra participated in the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon & 10K, securing 1st place in her gender category and age division with a final time of 1:23:08. She maintained a consistent overall place throughout the race, finishing 11th out of 36 participants. Her average pace was 6:20 minutes per mile over the 13.1-mile course. Notably, Margarita achieved a remarkable second mile with a swift pace of 5:28 min/mile, holding the top position for her gender from the second mile onward. While her finish was strong, her splits saw some variability, most notably between miles 3 and 4, where the pace dropped by nearly 3 minutes. Future race strategies could focus on making pacing more consistent to prevent slower segments.
