Jonny's Exceptional Pace in 5K Debut Jonny Reed, an 18-year-old from Kaysville, UT, delivered an impressive performance at the 2025 Deseret News Marathon 5K. Demonstrating consistent acceleration, his splits improved with each mile: starting at a 5:18 min/mile pace, dropping to 5:02 min/mile for the second mile, and finishing strong at 4:45 min/mile. Jonny's overall time was 15:22, giving him an average pace of 4:57 min/mile. Particularly noteworthy was his finish in the M15-18 division, where he secured first place. Compared to his previous 10K races, Jonny showed remarkable improvement in pace. His last recorded 10K times were faster year-on-year, culminating with a pace of 5:16 min/mile in 2023. Attention to pacing strategies has undoubtedly contributed to his strong showing in the 5K.
