Consistent Early Pace with Strong Finish Cache Peterson, 17, from Nampa, ID, delivered a remarkable performance at the 2025 Deseret News Marathon 5K. Starting strong, Cache maintained an impressive even pace in the first two miles with split times of 5:07 and 5:06. His initial pace ranked him 6th overall and 1st in the M15-18 division for the first mile, demonstrating excellent early race strategy. In the final mile, Cache slowed slightly to a 5:26 pace, finishing the 5K with an overall time of 16:17 and an average pace of 5:15 min/mile. Though experiencing a drop in position to 15th overall and 10th in his division, maintaining consistent average pacing across such a fast run shows his potential for endurance. In future races, aiming to sustain the pacing of the first two miles could help maintain top positions. Continued focus on pacing strategy will likely enhance overall performance even further.
