Steady Pace and Division Triumph TaMar Hicks demonstrated impressive endurance and pacing at the 2025 Deseret News Marathon, completing the 26.2-mile course with a time of 2:50:19, securing 13th place overall. Notably, he finished 2nd in his division (M30-34) and achieved 6:30 min/mile as his average pace. Hicks started strong with a swift first mile of 6:25, maintaining a consistent pace through most of the race. There was a slight variance in miles 6 and 8, with his pace slightly dropping to 7:06 and 6:54 min/mile, respectively, but he efficiently increased his pace again to 6:17 min/mile by mile 9. Hicks exhibited a recovering pace from mile 9 onward, notably closing with strong splits in the final miles, including a quick 5:55 min/mile at mile 22. Overall, consistency and an ability to maintain a strong finish were key highlights of TaMar's performance. Introduction of speed-focused workouts could be considered to improve mid-race pacing.
