Strong Start with Consistent Effort in the 10K Race Sophie Smith from Ogden, UT, participated in the 2025 Deseret News Marathon’s 10K event with a final time of 56:13, covering the 6.2-mile distance at an average pace of 9:04 min/mile. Starting at a strong pace of 7:11 min/mile for the first mile, her performance was notable for maintaining a sub-8-minute pace through the second mile. While her pace dipped in the latter stages, reaching 10:28 min/mile by the final split, Sophie completed the race with determination. As a member of the Ogden Girls team, Sophie finished 53rd in her division (F15-18) out of 1159 total participants. Her early miles were very competitive, showing promising speed and potential. For future races, focusing on even pacing and maintaining momentum throughout will enhance her performance. A great display of persistence, she has a solid foundation to build upon.
