Consistent Speed Secures Division Victory Matthew Chorney delivered an impressive performance in the 2025 Deseret News Marathon, leading his division for the 35-39 age group with a total time of 1:06:15 over a 13.1-mile half marathon course. Throughout the race, Matthew maintained a strong average pace of 5:03 minutes per mile. His performance showed remarkable consistency, with most mile splits ranging around the 5-minute mark. Notably, he achieved his fastest split of 4:44 at mile 7. Matthew held a steady overall position, finishing 6th out of 1,181 participants and also securing the 6th position among male competitors. Beginning with a 5:22 mile, his speed generally increased through the course until a slight slowdown in the closing miles. The strong finish at mile 11, where he improved his position, suggests potential for even greater performance. Continued focus on pacing strategy in the final miles could yield further improvement.
