Consistent Pacing Leads to Top Finish Spencer Paxson demonstrated strong pacing throughout the 2025 Deseret News Marathon, finishing with a time of 2:46:55 and an average pace of 6:22 min/mile. His consistent pace across the first five miles was particularly notable, maintaining a steady 6:22 min/mile. This consistency helped him secure a top spot early in the race by placing 4th in his division (M40-44) by mile 5. Although there was a brief dip in performance with a 10:04 min/mile split, he quickly bounced back with an impressive 4:35 min/mile for mile 7, showcasing his ability to recover and push forward. From mile 13 onwards, Spencer maintained a sub-6:40 min/mile pace, eventually moving up to finish 1st in the Masters division. Miles 21 to 26 saw him maintaining a strong finish, with a steady pace just below 6:30 min/mile. His performance ultimately secured him 8th overall out of 510 participants, an outstanding result in a competitive field. Working on pace consistency in the middle miles could further enhance future performances.
