Strong Start with Consistent Effort Julia Draper, aged 17 from Ogden, UT, demonstrated a consistent performance throughout the 2025 Deseret News Marathon 10K. She began with a strong first mile, clocking in at 7:43 and maintaining a solid pace throughout the race. Her split times showed a gradual increase as she progressed, with her slowest mile being the third, at a 9:06 pace. She finished the 10K with an average pace of 8:34 min/mile and a total time of 53:10. In terms of placement, Julia was 140th in her gender division and 48th in her age group (F15-18) out of 1159 participants. It’s commendable that she maintained close to her cumulative pace in the later stages, especially in mile six with an 8:20 split. A focus on sustaining the pace established during the initial stages could further enhance Julia’s future performances. Overall, her effort and consistency are noteworthy.
