Steady Improvement in Race Splits Charles Philbrick provided a noteworthy performance at the 2025 Boulderthon 5K. His final time was 26:35 with an overall pace of 8:34 min/mile. Impressively, Charles was able to gain four overall positions by the end of the race, finishing 225th out of 1972 participants. Within his gender category, he moved up to 147th, and in his division M40-44, maintained a consistent position at 18th. Examining his splits shows a significant progression. The initial mile was completed in 17:18, and then a dramatic pace improvement occurred in the second mile, clocking in at 4:05 min/mile for that split. He carried that momentum into the third mile with a further improvement to a 4:22 min/mile pace. Focusing on maintaining this momentum earlier in races would benefit Charles in future competitions. It's clear that once warmed up, his capability to quicken his pace is an asset.
