Consistent Effort with Strategic Lessons Mike Mccuaig participated in the 2025 Boulderthon 5K, completing the race in 37:02 with an average pace of 11:56 min/mile. His placement in the M65-69 division was 7th out of the participants, maintaining consistency throughout the splits. Starting with an 11:32 min/mile pace for the first mile, his pace slowed slightly, finishing with a third-mile split of 12:33 min/mile. This small deceleration offers a clear area to aim for slightly better maintenance of pace in the latter parts of the race. Notably, in previous Boulderthon 10K events, Mike had outstanding performances with both a 1st and 2nd place overall finish, showing his capability at longer distances. Given this new distance was shorter, it might be beneficial to evaluate pacing strategies specific to the demands of a 5K, considering the inclinations for early race enthusiasm and conserving energy to maintain even pacing throughout the entire race.
