Consistent Early Pace, Late Challenges Doug started his marathon with a consistent pace, clocking an 8:48 min/mile in the first mile, and improved his speed slightly in the second mile to an 8:27 min/mile. Impressively, he surged to a pace of 5:36 min/mile in the fifth mile, achieving his best split of the race. By the 12th mile, Doug maintained a solid pace of 8:22 min/mile, showing strong mid-race consistency. In the latter part of the race, Doug's pace slowed, particularly between miles 24 and 26, where his split times extended beyond the 12-minute mark. His final elapsed time was 4:13:50, averaging a 9:41 min/mile pace. Doug placed 22nd in his division (M45-49). For future races, focusing on sustaining early pacing in the later miles could enhance overall performance.
