Consistent Early Pace, Slowed in Latter Stages Beth displayed a strong start at the Boulderthon Marathon, maintaining a consistent pace in the initial stages. Her first split was an impressive 9:21 min/mile, which she improved by mile 2 to 9:11 min/mile. Between miles 1 and 12, her pace hovered mostly in the 9:15 to 9:19 range, showing tenacity and consistency. Noticeably, she demonstrated an ability to regain speed, particularly at mile 10, with the impressive mile split time of 8:55 min/mile, reflecting her capacity for speed bursts amidst longer distances. However, in the latter part of the race, her pace gradually slowed. From mile 17 onward, the splits increased into the 10 to 12-minute range, with the slowest split at mile 22 clocking in at 12:36 min/mile. Beth completed the marathon in a time of 4:28:49, yielding an overall pace of 10:15 min/mile. For future races, maintaining mid-race consistency will contribute to improved finishing times.
