Consistent Performance with Strong Start Kevin Muncey competed in the Bryce Canyon Ultras 50K, finishing with an elapsed time of 7:58:08 over a distance of 32.24 miles, resulting in an average pace of 14:49 min/mile. Noteworthy was Muncey’s start, clocking a solid 11:34 for the first mile, ranking him 13th overall. The early segments, such as the Proctor Canyon split, demonstrated consistent pacing with a split pace of 12:27 and placed him 17th overall. His performance at checkpoints like Hillsdale 1 (pace 14:16) and Thunder 1 (pace 12:47) reflected a strong ability to manage his pace early on, maintaining a top 10 position. Although his pace slowed at Thunder 2 with an 18:32 split, he regained momentum by decreasing his pace in the Mile 30 segment to 10:56. Focusing on maintaining a consistent speed, especially in longer segments like Thunder 2, might lead to an even stronger finish future races. Overall, Muncey’s race management displayed commendable pacing strategy.
