This Saturday, October 11th, the Glendora Ridge Runners will hold a preview on the Revel Canyon City (Azusa) Marathon course. They will run 12 miles of the half marathon course.  More info is available below, and also on their Facebook page.

 

"Meet at 6.00 AM at Azusa Greens Golf Course for carpools/caravans. 919 W Sierra Madre Ave, Azusa. Park at the top of Vernon (east side of parking, away from the golfers!).

 

We will drive up to the parking lot at the West Fork/Cogswell Dam and run back down to Azusa Greens. We will be running by 6.30 and most runners will be done by 8.30 or so.

 

Wear bright clothes. Invite your runner friends that are doing this event. It is an open (not closed) course and you run at your own risk. There are a few cars on the course. Bright clothes and large groups help "announce us" to the cars coming up. We run against traffic. There was safety in numbers at our last preview. Hopefully we have even a bigger turnout this time. We had close to 50 last time.

 

Logistics. There are many ways you can do this. You can get a ride up (assuming there are enough drivers) and run back down. You can drive up, leave your car up there (forest permit required - buyFriday!), and get a ride back up after. We'll make sure no one is stranded. You can drive up with a friend and split the course if you are not both up to 12 miles. One could run the first half, other drive, etc.

After the run, if you have time, join us for coffee and pancakes at the Azusa Elks Pancake Breakfast (part of the Azusa Golden Days Festival) at the corner of N. San Gabriel Ave & Foothill (Azusa Light and Water/CVS parking lot at 729 N. Azusa Ave.) $5 donation."
