GO BIG! I love that motto! I try to live up to that motto in everything I do. Running has been my passion for over seven years. Running inspires me, challenges me, motivates me, and is the best anti-depressant there is. Running is my therapy!
I always try to challenge myself and keep a race in front of me to reward my hard work! In keeping with this GO BIG motto, a few years ago I thought it would be awesome to run 50 marathons to celebrate my 50 years of being on this great earth. It was a few years ago that I really decided to "GO BIG" and make this dream into a reality.
Last year I ran a total of thirteen marathons, including last fall by running six marathons back-to-back six weeks in a row! I followed that up by running my first 50-mile ultra marathon with my son and a friend on the seventh week because turning 50 was such a milestone event!
My 50th birthday was September 19th and I chose the Big Cottonwood Marathon to celebrate my 50th marathon. I have always loved Big Cottonwood Canyon growing up, and with this milestone of celebrating my 50th marathon and my passion for running at the Big Cottonwood Canyon Marathon on September 14, it made it extra special. Yes, GO BIG has special meaning to me!
